为庆祝法国画家 gabriel de saint-aubin（1724-1780）诞辰300周年，大都会艺术博物馆将展出馆藏及借自私人收藏的 saint-aubin 创作的素描和版画，以及他家族中从事艺术的其他成员和同时代艺术家的作品。
gabriel de saint-aubin 是法国路易十五统治时期社会的忠实观察者和记录者，大部分作品都是极富细节的小型纸上绘画。他经常出没于巴黎的街头巷尾，用素描本记录民众的生活百态，从商店内景、艺术品拍卖会、公共花园到喧闹的街头集市，在每个场景的描绘里倾注他的思考与感触。
他将城市视为有机的整体，不局限于捕捉有形的事物，而是去发掘城市内在的精神，记述城市各个角落里所发生的破坏、重建和改头换面。
